The January transfer market is always a time of significant rumour and potential big-money deals. A number of prominent players are being linked with moves out of their current clubs. This article explores some of the top figures that might be changing clubs this month.

A. Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' inability to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, this has left the forward available, reports suggest an important transfer is imminent. This 25-year-old possesses a deal featuring a substantial release clause applicable for a brief window in early January. Latest reports indicate Manchester City have emerged as his services. Other suitors such as Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have turned their attention to other targets, leaving clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to make a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

This England centre-back has continued to excel for Crystal Palace despite a previous move to Anfield falling through. As his deal due to expire in the close season, this represents the London club's last chance to secure a transfer fee for their skipper. Numerous top sides, including Manchester City and multiple continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, reportedly be interested. However, a winter exit is considered difficult, especially given the manager's dependence on the defender.

Brennan Johnson

The Wales forward has had starting opportunities hard to come by at Tottenham this term. Despite finishing as the side's top scorer the previous campaign, Johnson has started only a small number of Premier League matches. It is understood the London outfit would be open to a transfer for the correct price, believed to be in the region of £40 million. The Cherries are currently at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford additionally showing an inquiry.

R. Neves

This Portuguese midfielder could be set for a return to the Premier League following a spell in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spain that he is prepared to accept a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

M. ter Stegen

The experienced German goalkeeper is now as third-choice at Barça under new manager Flick. Having fallen out of favour and undergone surgery, a winter exit seems highly probable. Villa were once linked as a possible destination, but that move currently seems unlikely. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing curiosity in the keeper.

I. Toney

The proven English centre-forward has continued finding the net regularly in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League could enhance his fading chances of being in the national squad. However, securing a transfer presents significant challenges. Al-Ahli do not wish to part with him, and his reported enormous salary make any move complicated. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all mentioned as interested parties.

This exciting Turkey attacker has been in excellent form for Juventus this season. As his current deal running down, a host of Premier League clubs – such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are keeping tabs on the situation. The Turin club are eager to tie down the 20-year-old to a lengthy contract but are in a race to retain one of Europe's brightest prospects.

K. Smit

This much-admired Netherlands midfielder has drawn comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. After impressing at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ first team. This teenager is heavily expected to make a big-money transfer in January. Newcastle reportedly are frontrunners, but could face stiff rivalry from the Spanish champions for a signing priced at around twenty-two million pounds.
