Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is his maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved service.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet defended four initial break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he clinched the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
